How to Get to Nosara?
1. From San José
If you are arriving at Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José, the capital of Costa Rica, Nosara can be reached in approximately 4 to 5 hours by car. If you arrive in Liberia the time to reach Nosara will be approx 2h30. Should you wish to rent a car, It is recommended to choose a 4x4 vehicle, especially if you are visiting Nosara during the rainy season (May to November), as some roads can be muddy or bumpy sometimes.The drive takes you through scenic landscapes, crossing mountains and lush green valleys. You can take Route 1, also known as the Inter-American Highway, then turn toward Nicoya and follow the signs to Nosara or Nosara Beach.
2. By Plane
For those looking for a faster option, domestic flights are available from San José to Nosara Airport. Local airlines such as Sansa Airlines operate regular flights. The flight takes approximately 45 minutes and about 140$ (and maybe extra charge, Once you arrive, you can rent a vehicle from the Adobe Rent a Car office to explore Nosara and its surroundings at your own pace. You can pay by credit card, use your international driver’s license, and benefit from unlimited mileage and third-party liability insurance.
3. By Bus or Shuttle
If you prefer public transportation, buses run regularly from San José to Nicoya. From there, you will need to take a second bus or a shuttle to reach Nosara. This option is more affordable but can take up to 7 hours in total, depending on stops and connections. There are two shuttles per day for the liaison between Liberia and Nosara;
